There have recently been a number of enquiries from the parents of youth trials riders to the ACU’s Trials and Enduro Committee about their offspring being allowed to move up or down the age class structure.
The committee wish to clarify the situation by stating that youths can move up a class (e.g. from Youth C to Youth B or from Youth B to Youth A) only by making an individual application to the committee for discussion and appropriate decision by the committee as a whole.
However, youths who might wish to stay in a lower class when their age would allow them to move up, (e.g. ride Youth B when eligible by age to ride Youth A), can do so without committee approval, but would not be eligible for any awards or championship points where appropriate.
In all cases, riders MUST only ride a machine of the capacity allowed for their age, no matter the class in which they ride.
The full regulation is in the ACU Handbook under TSR 1.
