A group of off road motorcycle racing enthusiasts have got together to form a new and exciting venture called Lincolnshire Enduro Club. The club, which will be aimed at all levels of riders, from beginners right through to experts, will run and promote a full years racing in the 2017 calendar.
As well as running classes for vintage enduro bikes at present, the club are also hoping to run a ladies only section next year, and also youth races in a bid to introduce the champions of tomorrow to this fast growing sport.
Although based in Horncastle, up to a dozen races will take place at venues throughout the county.
With great excitement among the 160 riders, the club has recently put on its first, and showpiece event to promote the club. As well as the local entrants, riders came from not only other parts of the country but from as far afield as Germany. Truly an international event!
Taking place at Tattershall Park Farm, the event consisted of two 90 minute races, the second one being somewhat affected after severe rain showers mid race.
The winner in each class was the rider who completes the most laps in the allotted three hours.
Organisers, helpers, and other riders from the club have spent several weeks developing the 8 mile course which saw riders tackle fast flowing sections alongside fields, through wooded areas and a man made "extreme" section comprising of riding over large pipes, tractor tyres and even the odd car or two.
Winners in each group were as follows,
Experts - Jo Chambers
Clubman - Darren Cox
Sportsman - Ben Hampel
Beginners - Oliver Hamp
Over 45's - Neil Tapper
Trail class - Kev Bartle
Fastest lap went to Jo Chambers.
Prizes and trophies were donated by local sponsors as well as "Gear4", an off road bike shop based in Market Deeping.
