Following the recent announcement of the Provisional Motocross calendar for 2017 the ACU MX Department are pleased to confirm that for next season and beyond the British Premier Cup organised by LS Promotions will be run under the guidance of the ACU.
LS Promotions have previously worked with the ACU until the end of the 2015 season, when a decision was made to run with a different organisation. But now with the 2016 Championship completed the decision has been made by the promoter to return to the ACU as they look to continue to grow their championship in the coming years ahead.
Speaking about his reason for returning to the ACU, LS Promotions Claudio Bernardinelli said “I feel that returning to the ACU is the best way forward for our Championship to continue its growth as it provides us with a solid infrastructure for both the Officials and Riders. Being part of the ACU also provides the natural progression from club event to major UK and International events for all riders.”
Steve McCauley commented by saying “Personally and indeed on behalf of the entire ACU MX committee and department we are delighted to welcome Claudio back under our auspice for at least the next four years. Claudio first came to us back in 2014 when he wished to gain more credibility for his very successful GT cup series. With the help of an ACU appointed Clerk of the Course (Dave Edwards) and some additional assistance from other committee members the status of the series was raised further and grew into a first class championship at excellent venues for the duration of 2014 and 15. So when he approached us mid-year to discuss the possibility of a return for 2017 we were more than happy to open negotiations.
Claudio's events are always very well supported by the racing fraternity and he certainly puts on a series which appeals to the masses. No one could argue that whatever his formula is it works. He gives value for money racing and works hard to secure sponsors and different prizes. We have secured what we believe to be the three best National Championships after the Maxxis, the BYN, the MX Nationals and now the British Premier cup.”
For the 2017 season the British Premier Cup will receive British Cup status for all of its classes and the Championship will be running across 6 rounds after working in conjunction with the other main ACU Championships to avoid unnecessary date clashes during the 2017 season
