The Darley Moor Motor Cycle Road Race Club will be opening the gates of the Darley Moor Motor Sport Centre, near Ashbourne, Derbyshire (DE6 2ET) for Round 6 of their Championship on Sunday August 7th 2016. On this occasion catering for a wide variety of racing machines on two and three wheels all races will be 10 laps, rather than the early race being a ‘sprint’ race for each class.
With three Rounds remaining in the Championship there is plenty of racing for spectators to enjoy and still a huge number of points up for grabs so you can be certain there will be some frantic action on track.
The one exception is David Bradley (Matlock) who could well be on the verge of becoming the first Darley Moor Champion of 2016; with a maximum of 72 points available and this being his lead in the Classic 1000 class, all he needs to do is add to his current total to be crowned Champion at Round 6!
However, other classes are so much tighter, in the Lightweight class Neil Lloyd (Wednesbury) leads Chris Moore (New Mills) by just 3 points, but in the Pre98’s (Up to 500cc) class Moore enjoys a 33 point advantage over his nearest rival, with Lloyd a further 4 points behind, in 3rd place.
Lloyd Shelley (Burntwood) has the same 3 point advantage in the Formula 600 class over his championship challenger, Steve Proctor (Wakefield). Shelley also sits at the head of the Sound of Thunder Championship, with an 8 point lead over Jamie Homer (Newark).
Two of the Classic classes are separated with the same narrow margin at the top of the table; Glenn Atkinson (Northampton) leads the 250 Championship from Geoff Hadwin (Cumbria), whilst Gary Widdowson (Nottingham) trails Gordon Thorpe (Matlock) in the 500 class.
Andrew Lowe (Stone) holds a 10 point advantage over Jamie Pearson (Derby) in two championship classes; firstly the Pre Injection 600, but the second one, the Pre98’s (over 500cc) also has Mark Brailsford (Chesterfield) just a further 2 points behind in 3rd place.
Carl Morris (Etwall) is another rider that heads two championships although he enjoys a slightly large lead in one; a 17 point advantage over Steve Proctor (Wakefield) in the Peak Cup class and a comfortable 43 point lead over Alan Hughes (Rugeley) in the Open Solos.
David Carson (Northwich) also heads two championships, both with a comfortable lead; the Mini Sound of Thunder class by 36 points and the Formula Darley championship by 41 points.
The Steel Framed 600 class has Antony Porter (Chesterfield) with a 22 point advantage over Dave Marsden (Birkenhead) with Dean Ephgrave (Nottingham) 3rd, 24 points adrift of the top of the table.
James Hind (Nettleton) has a very comfortable 30 point lead over Adam Warner (Lincoln), whilst George Pidcock (Alfreton) is just a further 3 points back in 3rd place. Hind will also be in action in the GP125 class where he is currently in 4th place in the standings, 47 points behind championship leader Graeme Wilson (Kidsgrove).
On three wheels Howard Baker/Mike Killingsworth (Sutton Coldfield/Lincoln) enjoy a 36 point lead in the
Formula 600 Sidecars, whilst Keith Waddington/Julie Hardisty (Barnsley/Lincs) will be trying to overturn a 26 point deficit to the top of the table in the Open Sidecar class.
