The first big event for the Auto 66 Club in 2017 will be the annual dinner dance and awards night on the 14th January. This will be held, once again, at the Royal Hotel in Scarborough. On Friday 13th January there will be the Oliver’s Mount press conference for 2017 events. To anyone who wishes to attend the dinner tickets are now on sale at £32 per person. Friday night there will be a chat show with top stars, tickets are £18. You can order tickets by calling 01723 373000. More details can be found at auto66.com where you can also find information on the hotel which has offered us a special rate if you wish to stay over. This offer is also available when there is a race meeting at Oliver’s Mount. If you are interested either call 01723 361774 or email conf738@britanniahotels.com and state, you are wanting a rate for an Auto 66 meeting.
The club will be running club meetings at Cadwell Park, once again, in 2017 starting the season off on the 25th & 26th March and finishing with the Sidecar bash on 21st & 22nd October. Other dates for meeting at Cadwell are still to be decided. A new event on the Auto 66 calendar will be organised at Jurby, Isle of Man, on the 9th July which will be linked to all Road & Track race series. This fits in well for competitors who are heading over for the Southern 100 meeting which starts on the 10th July and runs to the 13th.
Oliver’s Mount provisional dates so far are;
22nd & 23rd April - Bob Smith Spring Cup Road Races
24th & 25th June - Cock O’ the North Continental Road Races
22nd & 23rd July - Barry Sheene Race Festival & Rally
16th & 17th September - The 67th Steve Henshaw International Gold Cup.
It is also hoped to hold a social event with stalls etc. at Oliver’s Mount on the 4th & 5th November.
The first Hill Climb at Oliver’s Mount has a provisional date of the 29th, 30th April & 1st May. The alternative date is the 6th & 7th May due to the Tour of Yorkshire race which has yet to announce their dates. The second Hill Climb at Oliver’s Mount will take place on the 20th August. The Club will hopefully be invited to hold the National Hill Climb finals on Sunday 1th October or as an alternative date the 7th or 8th October.
The club is hoping this advanced notification will allow everyone plenty of time to plan ahead for next season i.e. booking hotels and booking holidays. The road race dates are correct subject to changes in the British Superbike dates which MSVR assure us there are no clashes. The Barry Sheene weekend in July and Hill Climbs are still subject to Council approval.
