The ACU Motocross Department would like to congratulate 14 year old Lewis Hall on recently claiming fifth place in the European 85cc Motocross Championship held at Loket in the Czech Republic. The Monster Energy Team Green Kawasaki rider secured his place at the final after finishing in 5th place following the four qualifying rounds for the North West sector.
Upon arriving at the hard pack circuit of Loket, Lewis knew that it was going to be a tough weekend competing against 40 of the best Youth 85cc riders in Europe. With the track well prepped prior to the meeting Lewis quickly got a feel for the track.
During the qualifying session Lewis completed a number of fast laps and managed to finish the session as 12
th fastest and with the start being very equal and good start would be possible from almost anywhere on the gate.
In the opening race Lewis suffered a bad start and had to push hard in the opening corners to get into 15
th position and continued to push forward and reach 6
th place before making passes on another two riders to finish in 4
th place.
The second race would see Lewis suffer another bad start after a rider cut across him on the first turn and the youngster was down in 25
th on the opening lap and had to work hard during the race and put in some solid laps to finish in 8
th place in the race for 5
th overall on the day and in the Championship.
Lewis will now continue to compete in the UK in the National championships before starting the preparation for his move to the Youth Open class on board the Kawasaki 250f in 2017.
