This weekend the Pickering and DMC will be hosting the ACU British Pre 75 Championship at the Riseborough venue on Sunday 26th June. The meeting is to be held on one of the best racing surfaces in the north just outside Pickering and has hosted some fantastic grasstracks over the years.
With 2015 350cc and 500cc Pre 75 champions in attendance, Chris Mackett and Dave Hammond respectively racing will be fast and furious. Steve Darvill went very well on his 350cc at Fenland recently and will come into this meeting wanting to keep that momentum going. In the 500's Dave Hammond will have strong opposition with Tim Curnock, Geoff Urban and John Shipley who all have ambitions to take the crown.
In the modern grasstrack support classes multi British 250cc champion Dave Knowles will have a good entry chasing him including Ben IIsley and Tim Greig who was looking particularly strong at the moment. Simon Gale is also getting quicker with each outing and will be one to watch.
In the modern 350’s ex British Champion Andy Mellish is having a break from his speedway commitments and will be a welcome addition to the programme. Lake District rider Ian Wilson was last on a grass bike 15 years ago and is dusting off his Hagon Weslake for a run out in the upright class. Always a fierce competitor Ian will go well. Another returnee Pete Wyldbore is having a run out on his 350 and possibly on Rob Bradley's pre 75 250 "secret weapon" With Mark Taylor, Jade Mudgeway looking the class of the field in modern 500cc grasstrack and a host of local MX riders who always provide an entertaining spectacle all is set for a great days sport.
