The last 40 years have seen many changes to the TT Races, but through the highs and lows there has been one constant – the TT Supporters’ Club. As the TTSC enters its 44th year its constitution is as relevant today as it was in 1973, supporting the riders who race in the TT. This year the competitors will be given a financial award to assist in reducing their costs. The Club will also be making a significant contribution to the funding of the energy drinks and gel that the riders use on race day as well as holding the Annual Draw with its prize fund of £1,000.
The prestigious Susan Jenness Trophy is awarded annually by the Club for the most meritorious performance by a female competitor. During TT fortnight Fiona Baker-Milligan will be presented with the trophy for her tremendous performances of last year when, in finishing both sidecar races as passenger to her dad, Tony, she recorded the fastest-ever lap by a female passenger.
Eleven times TT winner, Ian Hutchinson is the current holder of the TTSC Trophy – a silver tray on its plinth – which is awarded to the overall winner of the Supersport Races, the Yorkshireman having won both in 2015.
The TTSC produces two A5 glossy magazines per year which are sent out to all members. The Summer 2016 issue includes articles on Lee Johnson, Craig Neve, Ivan Lintin, the Ramsden sidecar crew and a look at the contributions made to the road racing scene by Billy Redmayne and Malachi Mitchell-Thomas, both of whom have tragically lost their lives to the sport which we love. There is also a Q&A session with Paul Phillips plus lots of information and snippets.
A landmark associated with the TTSC is the Golden Anniversary – 50 years of continuous racing at the TT – by club chairman, Roy Hanks… an incredible achievement
