On Sunday 8th May the Northampton Motorcyclists Club will be hosting the Annual Bob Collier Trophy MX meeting at Long Buckby. Bob Collier was an enthusiastic NMCC club and committee member for over 25 years who loved all forms of motocross, competing in modern racing, sidecars and twinshocks. When Bob sadly passed away from Leukaemia in 2010 the Northampton Motorcyclists Club set up this event to honour his name and raise funds for Leukaemia Research (now called Bloodwise).
For the past 6 years this event has run a variety of classes that he would have been interested in, whilst raising as much money for the charity as possible. On Sunday there will be classes for Experts, Juniors, Clubmen, Over 60, Over 50, Over 40 and 2 Strokes as well as Twinshocks. The meeting will also feature the very popular ‘Friends of Bob’ class which competes for the Bob Collier Trophy, the entry for which has to be authenticated by his wife Gill.
The meeting is always popular with riders and spectators alike. Admission for spectators is free, but the club ask that you please give generously to our charity collections. Practise starts at 10am, with racing straight after. The track is located at Long Buckby, just off the A428 between Long Buckby and West Haddon using the postcode NN6 7PH.
