The second round of the ACU Championships takes place at Shakespeare County Raceway on Spring Bank Holiday weekend on 30th April to 2nd May.
Funny Bike.
With only qualifying being completed at the opening of the championship Lorcan Parnell sits on top of the table. Reigning ACU Funny Bike Champion Dave Peters is just behind and won this event last year. Phil Crossley debuted his Funny Bike here last August and is another rider who could win this event. Allan Davies finished runner up here at this event last year. Jiri Lukes is making a welcome return to the track after missing last season. With a new cylinder head, pistons and conrods fitted to the bike. Lukes has a new combination for the bike.
Comp Bike.
Mick Winyard won this event last year, which was his first ACU event win and will be trying to win the event again. Points leader Eddy Smiley will be hoping to extend his lead. Reigning ACU Comp Bike Champion Kevin Osman finished runner up at last year’s event and is the quickest and fastest rider in the class. Former Champion Phil Leamon will be hoping to dip into the seven -second bracket at the event. Newcomer Martin Walker will also be trying to improve on his performance.
Super Street Bike.
Former ACU Super Street Bike Champions Steve Venables and Graham Balchin will battle it out with last year’s number two plate Chris Reed, who was runner up last year at this event to then newcomer Alex Hope. Hope the ACU Pro Stock Bike Champion won this event last year in only his second race in Super Street Bike. His brother Mark who competed in Comp Bike in the first round of the ACU Championships is rumoured to be entering Super Street Bike. Nigel Barker returned to racing this year and with intercoolers fitted to the bike, he is on a learning curve with the new combination. Rumours are that Graham Dance may enter the event.
