The NEMCRC season opened at croft on 2/3 April where a very large entry of solo sidecar and the scooters of the BSSO provided some dramatic racing in spite of the wet start on Saturday which caused a few delays. This caused three races to be held over until Sunday. However, the club pulled things round and completed Saturday’s programme and a full Sunday’s race progamme just inside the 6.pm Sunday deadline.
The regular competitors were joined by a contingent of Dutch riders and the Italian ‘casa Lambretta team’ from Rimini Italy led by riders Luca Fuschini and Luca Zani with the team manager and wives and girlfriends. The team are competing in all the British Scooter Championship rounds in 2016. The North East Club inviting the popular scooter club to run their championships at Croft for the for the fourth year.
The main trophies for the weekend were the Ken Redfern – Mac Hobson and Laird of Croft. Each of these were run over four races during the weekend programme. The winners being declared on the aggregate of the four races. The Redfern trophy going down to the wire and the eventual winner being Andrew Tasker . The Hobson Sidecar Trophy went to Lee Crawford and Pattrick Farrance. The Laird of Croft Trophy was retained by last years winner James Cowton .
