This weekend the opening two rounds of the ACU Wessex Plant Hire (Bristol) British Sidecar Trials Championship will take place on the Isle of Man on the 13th and 14th February. The Peveril Motor Cycle & Light Car Club Ltd have been busy preparing for the event and creating two different events for each day.
Both rounds will be run over 36 sections on each day and include a good mix of all types of terrain but unfortunately due to the recent wet weather conditions most of the forestry plantations are closed, however with 36 sections to be ridden each day there should be something to suit everyone.
The opening round of the championship will take place at the Andy Smith Trophy Trial, named in honour of long standing Peveril MCC member and sidecar enthusiast who sadly passed away a few years ago. The route on Saturday will be based in the North of the Island with the start at Sulby Claddachs and the first pairing starting at 9:30
Sunday will see the second round take place for the David Craine Trophy Trial, David is a past Chairman and present President of the Peveril club and put up the trophy when the club decided to run back to back rounds of the British Sidecar Championship a few years ago. Sunday’s Trial will start from the clubs Headquarters at Knock Froy in Santon and will be based in the central area of the Island.
30 sidecar entries have been accepted with current British Champions Nigel Crellin and Chris Molyneux having home advantage for the first two rounds however the rest of the field will be pushing them hard so it should be a good battle. Both rounds will also be supported by a Twin Shock class allowing more competitors to enjoy the two 36 section trials across the weekend.
