Saturday and Sunday, 1st and 2nd of August, saw the Cadwell Park Anniversary Road Races take place at the famed circuit in Lincolnshire. With a great entry of riders signed up and the sun shining with blue skies all weekend, the scene was set for a perfect weekend of racing.
The event, organised by Auto 66 Club, was a huge success with a great entry of riders, perfect weather and the meeting running on time both days with racing finishing at exactly 16.30 on Sunday.
On Saturday the paddock filled up and riders signed on in the morning. It was great to see UK stars Ivan Lintin and James Cowton along with Mick Goodings, Phil Atkinson and Lee Wilson supporting the event and entertaining the crowds all weekend.
All the racing was firecely contested throughout the weekend. Full results can be found on Sports Timing website: http://www.sportstimingservices.com/?page_id=3105
A great addition to this event were the Super Karts. These Karts have to be seen to be believed! Incredible racing all weekend from them and a great spectacle for all the spectators. At lunch time on Sunday there was also a special parade of former World Championship and European Championship winning Karts for the fans to see.
We are very happy to report that there were no serious injuries over the course of the weekend and the club were very pleased with all the marshals efforts throughout the 2 days. Many of whom commented that the recent training day at Oliver's Mount, where 131 marshals attended a training day, had been very helpful. So much so that we will be looking to run further training courses for them with additional medical training so that the standards of our marshals is always improving.
We also wanted to mention that it was not just our marshals who had a good weekend, but also our various team leaders who helped to run both days at Cadwell so smoothly. We are looking into training days for them too, so that Auto 66 is leading the way with training and information for our officials and marshals.
So that was it for Cadwell Park.
Our next event is the 16th August at Oliver's Mount for the National Car and Bike Hillclimb. After that it is the big one. The Gold Cup at Oliver's Mount. The Gold Cup 2015 is shaping up to be an awesome event with a huge entry so far including the likes of John McGuniness, defending Gold Cup Champion Ivan Lintin and rising star Lee Johnston.
