The 6th round of the British Trials Championships sponsored by the RT Keedwell group takes place this Sunday at Low North Park, Harwood Dale, postcode YO13 0LA.
The organizing Scarborough Club have used this extensive ground on many occasions and it should prove to be a good test for the riders. As with all of the British Championships this year it will start at 9.30 am and consist of 3 laps of 12 sections. Low North which is actually owned by the organizing club has ample parking, good spectator facilities and has excellent link roads and tracks between the sections.
We know that local hero Michael Brown will not be there nor Jorge Casales who made such a good impression on the series early on. Both are out through injury so the fight for Championship podium positions will be up for grabs.
Last week at the St David's it was Sam Haslam and Iwan Roberts who joined winner James Dabill on the rostrum. Sam is having a superb season and has found a liking for scoring good points and his abilities have this season translated into top results. Iwan was top of the younger set last week but Billy Bolt was snapping at his heels with seasoned campaigner Alexz Wigg right there also.
The Expert class is becoming an interesting battle between youth and experience with Dan Thorpe now leading the group but only just. Sherco's young Tom Hooper is currently running second from Jonny Starmer with Tom Minta fourth. Minta had a great result down in Wales so the Experts has plenty of interest going on.
Two riders have stood out in the Youth A class, Toby Martyn and Jack Peace. Martyn won the opening four rounds and then just lost out to Peace last weekend at the final few sections. Sam Johnson is currently running in third place but all the 125 riders have given it there all so far this year and the experience should stand them in good stead.
