Spectators and fans were promised thrilling and exciting racing at Swingfield (England) over the weekend and that’s exactly what they got!!
Despite an overcast and drizzly day, the spectators who braved the weather were treated to an excellent days racing at the FIM Europe Individual Grass Track 1
st Semi Final event.
The eighteen competitors quickly adapted to the slick conditions, which produced some very fast and furious racing.
As the meeting progressed, the track conditions improved, and it became extremely difficult to forecast who would be the eventual winner.
With nine qualifying places (+ one reserve) being available to progress onto the European Final at Staphorst (Netherlands) in July, it was Dutchman Theo Pijper who won the ‘A’ Final and climbed onto the number 1 step on the winners rostrum. 2
nd place went to Germany’s previous multi European champion – Stephan Katt, with 3
rd place going to England’s Paul Cooper.
The 2
nd Semi Final with be held at Bielefeld in North Germany on the 7
th June.
