After the long absence of motorsport over the winter Round 1 of the Darley Moor Motorcycle Road Race Championship provided a welcome return for petrol heads, now just several weeks later Round 2 approaches, with another 21 race programme, for two, three and four wheels, taking place at the circuit near Wyaston, Derbyshire (DE6 2ET) on 12th April 2015.
As ever many local riders will be in the thick of the action challenging for silverware again; The Peak Cup and Open Solo classes will certainly be providing some excellent entertainment for the crowd, current Champion Tim Poole and Jim Hodson will no doubt be at the head of the field, battling it out, providing Poole has sorted his machine out following its failure on the Saturday at the previous Round.
In the Steel Framed/Pre Injection 600 races after Andrew Lowe, Anthony Porter and Dean Ephgrave all shared the spoils at the previous Round.
The Classic races will hopefully see David Bradley, Mike Harding closing the gap in the Classic 1000 class and no doubt having to fend off challenges from David Smith and Gordon Thorpe on their Classic 500 machines. Brian Prescott will be hoping to fend off any challengers to his Classic 350 advantage.
Gary Henriksen and Matthew Harwood both shared a win apiece in the Sound of Thunder races last time out, whilst Paul Gibbs recorded a 2nd & 3rd place. Running alongside the Sound of
Thunder machines 2014 Lightweight Champion, Chris Moore continued in fine form claiming two class victories.
Reigning Champion Jamie Medhurst is sure to be under pressure from Richard Wardle in the Formula 600 races. He may have recorded two victories last time around, but Wardle put him under serious pressure in their second encounter.
Jamie Pearson continued the Pearson dominance of the Pre98’s class, taking over from 2014 Champion Shane, taking two victories at Round 1. Virgil Stevenson and Richard Stubbs will be looking to continue their challenge for silverware in the ‘Up to 1300cc’ class, whilst Chris Moore will be mixing it with the larger machines on his ‘Up to 500cc’ machine once more.
Macclesfield’s father & son duo of Gary Knight and Dan Knight will be aiming for a double victory this time out after a mistake on the final lap of the first race prevented the double at Round 1, their 600cc outfit getting the better of all the 1000cc machines.
For fans of four wheeled motorsport, regular guests the Long Circuit Kart Club will also have two races throughout the day.
