The Derby Phoenix Motor Cycle Club are very pleased to announce that despite their recent difficulties they are to continue into a 68th season of organising motorcycle road racing in 2015.
This comes after a deal was brokered with Stewart Events to allow riders who were members of Derby Phoenix in 2013 or 2014 to race at Thundersport GB events during the 2015 season simply by rejoining Derby Phoenix for the new season to contest a 6 round championship.
Five of those events will be hosted by Thundersport GB and will incorporate the Derby Phoenix Championship for Pre-Injection 600, Steel-Framed 600, 1300 4-strokes, Supertwins and Stocktwins within compatible Thundersport GB categories.
The centre-piece of the series will be a 6
th round, this being a stand alone Derby Phoenix motorcycling festival at the clubs home circuit of Cadwell Park on 12
th & 13
th September.
The complete calendar is focussed on the traditional Derby Phoenix heartland across the Midlands and East of England and consists of the following events:-

This gives the Derby Phoenix members 6 full summer events at 5 top quality circuits.
The Board of Directors are very appreciative of the assistance offered by both Stewart Events and Thundersport GB and are very much looking forward to the 2015 season with renewed optimism.
General Secretary, Dave Smith said “
We are aware that things have not gone according to plan over the past few seasons and that we have to adapt to new ideas and systems if we are to restore this great club to its former stature. Over the course of the last few months we have examined the areas where we failed to keep ahead of the game. We are confident that we can implement the required changes, without losing the special essence of the club and we are looking forward to the challenge.”
Thundersport GB boss Dave Stewart said “
I am very pleased to be able to use some of the resources I have in Stewart Events to assist one of my old clubs. Whilst this 2015 initiative is a starting point for securing the future of Derby Phoenix, it is only the first step in restructuring the club and that must have the intention of seeing it return to full health as a 100% independent club. This club – any club – is only the sum of its members and I hope those riders who have been able to enjoy events with Derby Phoenix over the years are able to show their continued support by renewing their memberships directly with Dave, Jim and their team of hardworking volunteers.”
Full details including a 2015 Membership Form will be published on
