The Clee Hill Luscombe SAAB British sidecar Championship produced an eighth victory this year and another British Sidecar Championship win for Bristol crew Jon Tuck and Matt Sparkes. The twenty mile road course included eight different groups of land and was organised by the South Birmingham Motor Club.
Starting from The Boyne Arms the first riders away were Skipton’s Chris and Rob Pickard who headed to eight sub sections at Starvecrow, the first four of these were steady and got the trial moving. David Tuck and Steven Chandler made it look easy trying to close up the point’s deficit on Championship leader Robbie Head and Aaron Jacobs after their disastrous day at the Talmag trial when they had a water pump problem had to retire at the half way stage.
The British Championship leaders Jon Tuck and Matt Skarkes were in trouble on this section when Jon tried to take the Jotagas straight on at the top of the hill, but after a few words from Matt realised the section turned down the hill.
Paul Fishlock and Debbie Merrell were also going well on the big four stroke Beta and got to the end for a three before filling in all the spectators with mud. After Furlong four good sections at Hopton Brook took a few marks then it was the punch card change with Tuck/Sparkes on clean Dale/Etherington 6 and Scott/Howe 7.
The Inters were close with Karl Jarvis/Bob Chapman on 21, Robbie Head/Aaron Jacobs and David Tuck/Steven Chandler 22. The clubmans were led by Fishlock/Merrell on 11, Evans/Harding 12 and the Pickards 18.
Paul Fishlock and Debbie Merrell went on to win the Clubmans class which was well deserved after being so close to winning in earlier trials this year.
With the win for Jon Tuck and Matt Sparkes, this gives them the 2014 British Sidecar Championship so congratulations to them, and the top spot in the Clubmans and Inters will be decided at the final round in November at Hook Woods.
In the Clubmans the Pickards are 5 points in front of Evans and Harding but the Pickards are Northern Rock specialists were the sandy conditions of Hook Woods could favour the Montesa of Evans and Harding.
The Inters is also very close and will be decided at the final round with Head/Jacobs leading on 147 points, Jarvis/Chapman 139 and DaveTuck/SteveChandler 131.
