Race Report Round 8 - Three Sisters Race Circuit
The final round of the Norasport ACU British Quad Supermoto Championships were an electric blend of sideways action. Aside from the two Title under contention the spectators were treated to a display of European talent from young Christophe Cuche travelling over from Switzerland to show the top Brit/Irish contenders’ the way it’s done. With Justin Reid suffering electrical gremlins, it was down to Gareth Thomas, Craig Kilner and Cathal McCartan to keep the Swiss rider in check.
With only a handful of points between both the 450 and Open Classes for the Championship titles, the atmosphere was tense. It was Cathal who held his nerve in the big boys, going into the final race with a minimal points advantage his 3rd place finish behind Open class race winner Gareth Thomas, and Team SPL Craig Kilner second, gave him the British title by just 3 points. Even tighter with the 450 riders, where Joe Hodgson took the title by one point after a close fought battle with Mark Beevers, great riding from upcoming Suzuki rider Luke Holman who took the final podium spot for the season.
