Yeadon-Guiseley M.C. Luscombe Suzuki Leeds Mel Harrison Trophy British Sidecar Trial- Sunday.

Robin and Sam Luscombe took another major step towards winning their fourteenth British sidecar trials championship. The Cullingworth father and son combination got their Beta outfit round the Pateley Bridge trials course into a close and secure second place behind Bristol former champions Jon Tuck and Matt Sparkes and that puts a theoretical twenty two clear of the field with just the Peak Trial to run next month.

The battle in the Inter class rages with Tony Crabtree and Jamie Howe winning their fifth championship event this season. Reading school groundsman Peter Dale and his landscaping passenger Barry Pocock are lurking two championship points behind Crabtree and Howe and have the upper hand with a missed Peveril round so their drop score is implemented. Phil Sparkes leads the Clubman category and has missed Peveril and the Mel Harrison and is now twenty five in front of Robbie Head and Aaron Jacobs so can be considered as class champion, albeit without the emigrated passenger Roger Tuck.

Results:

Experts: 1 Jon Tuck &Matt Sparkes 16, 2 Robin & Sam Luscombe 21, 3 Rupert & Chris Kimber 38. (All Beta).

Inters: 1 Tony Crabtree/Jamie Howe (Sherco) 41, Peter Dale/Barry Pocock (Beta) 51, 3 Andy Scrivens/Martin Lawford (Beta) 54.

Clubmen: 1 Mark Kemp/Bob Chapman (JAM Beta) 10, 2 Robbie Head/Aaron Jacobs (Sherco) 12, 3 Paul Churchill/Kevin Parnell (Treen Beta) 15.

Newcomers: Alan & Rosie Maynard (Beta) 73.
