Arnold puts of Iron Man show.
On Bank Holiday Monday the Woodbridge and DMCC club held meeting at the superb Blaxhall Circuit near Woodbridge. The days racing included a line-up of Two-Stroke only riders, NGR Championship and two groups of Expert and Juniors.
The day started with the qualifying heats for the A and B finals of the mixed Expert and Junior Championship. In the opening heat James Cottrell was leading the way ahead of Daniel Arnold until his bike stopped. Daniel Arnold took the win over Steve Bixby and Jason Morland. In the other heat Luke Benstead and Aston Bird battled all race and it was Benstead that took the win, Bird second and Stuart Dyerson in third.
The other races before the lunch break was the opening Two Stroke, it was Daniel Arnold that took the battle to Steve Bixby in the opening laps. Arnold would take the race lead and the race win over Bixby, third place in the race went to Aston Bird on the first 125cc machine home on a 2001 KTM. Fourth place went to Darren Redman and Will Kerry took the fifth place. The other race was the opening NGR race and Paul Hubbard took the win ahead of Matthew Eley and Darren Murfitt.
During the lunch break the Woodbridge club held the Sue Jennies Handicap Race where the Expert and Junior club riders all compete in one handicap race. The Junior riders received a hand start over the Expert riders. In the short 6 lap race it was Aston Bird and James Cottrell that quickly moved into the lead and battled for the win. It was Bird that took the win ahead of Cottrell by a short distance.
After the break it was time for the rest of the racing, in the A group it was a battle between Benstead and Arnold for the race win in the opening race. Benstead took the advantage and the win over Arnold, third place went to Aston Bird with Steve Bixby in fourth and Jason Morland in the fifth place. The second A group race saw James Cottrell promoted into the main race after having to race the Non Qualifying group take the win. Second place went to Dan Arnold with Luke Benstead recovering from a bad start to finish third. Fourth and fifth places went to Aston Bird and Jason Morland.
The first of the B final saw James Cottrell run away with the win over fellow Expert Brad Howlett, third place went to Andrew Cattermole with Fred Stearn in fourth and Aaron Robinson in fifth. In the second B final it was Daniel Wright that took the win over Aaron Robinson and Fred Stearn. Fourth and fifth places went to Kelly Reeve and William Parsloe.
The successful Two-Stroke class produced yet more great racing after the lunch break between Arnold, Bixby and Bird as they continued to race in six different races during the day. In the second race it was Arnold that took the win ahead of Bixby and Bird, with Redman and Kerry rounding out the top 5. The third and final Two-Stroke race saw Arnold make it a hat trick of wins in the class. Second place went to Bixby with Redman taking third this time around over Bird and David Kemp.
The final two NGR championship races saw Matthew Eley take the win ahead of Paul Hubbard and Darren Murfitt. Fourth and fifth place went to Jake Morphey and Mark Lloyd. The final NGR race it would be Matthew Eley that took another win over Darren Murfitt and Jake Morphey. The fourth and fifth places went to Mark Lloyd and Paul Hubbard.
