After a break of seven weeks the top British Sidecar teams will be in action for round 2 of the ACU British Sidecar Championship. All the excitement takes place on Bank Holiday Monday 30th May at Asham Woods near Frome and hosted by the Frome Motorcycle Club.
Stuart Brown and Josh Chamberlain will be hoping to extend their slender 5 points lead by the end of the days racing. Daniel and Joe Millard, who are currently lying in second, should have the home advantage as Frome is their hometown and always have a partisan crowd at Asham Woods! Stuart and Josh, however, also have their own large contingent of followers to help cheer them on. Since the last round both teams have been competing in the World Championship and they have had their equal share of success and disappointment. Stuart and Josh are presently 9th in the world and Team Millard 16th.
In third and only 7 points behind the Millards are Jack Etheridge and Ryan Humphrey in this their first full season in the British Championship. Last year was a very successful one for Jack as he claimed the British Clubman’s crown and became Junior UMX Champion. He started the 2010 season with Lewis Luxford but following injury Ryan jumped on the side from the half way point. In addition, after scoring the points needed in the Clubman’s series, Jack was able to race in five of the British rounds as a wildcard entry, finishing the championship in twelfth. Fourth and fifth placed teams, Nick Jarvis and Dan Chamberlain and Scott Wilkinson with Craig Parmenter as his 2011 passenger, are jointly another eleven points behind. Richard Jenkins and Pete Girling make up the top six only 5 points back.
For an action packed day then Asham Woods is the place to be to watch the best sidecar teams in the country battling it out and with only 27 points separating the top 6 the crowd shouldn’t be short of excitement!
