Charity Trial Success
Report ; Scott Ellis
The Bluestones Trophy Charity Trial organised by the Staffordshire Moorlands Motorcycle Club was a great success on Sunday.
A record entry of 127 riders donated their entry fees to charity thanks to the Auto Cycle Union who waived the usual insurance premium.
Further sponsorship of each section and added donations will bring the total to nearly £ 2000.
The donations will be equally distributed between the Blackshaw Primary School and the Rossendale Trust.
The trial, at Blackshaw Farm, was held in glorious spring weather at this marvellous venue on a three mile course of 15 sections, ridden three times.
The ground conditions were generally dry but course setters Stuart, Toby and Damian managed to find some muddy banks and big rocks.
The course was divided into two routes with Experts taking the hard course, Clubmen the easier course and Intermediates taking a mixture of the two, the 50/50 route.
The Expert riders were competing for the Bluestones Trophy and the winner was Craig Robinson who lost just 5 marks, heading Mike Roberts, Harry Harvey and Danny Greatorix.
A large entry of 42 riders on the 50/50 route were headed by a galaxy of veteran talent with Over 40 riders taking the first five places.
Andy Hipwell had a margin of 5 marks over Steve Kenny at the finish but Steve was closely followed by Carl Baker, Steve Hitchcock and Adrian Bellis, next came youth rider Josh Atkinson equal scoring with Steve and Adrian.
The clubman route was ridden by 56 riders and top dog was Andy Downham who just edged out Simon Critchley and Steve Ambrey in a close tussle.
