THE weather had been reasonably kind in the run up to Round Six of the ACU Events sponsored British Championship round and the ground was in excellent condition at Brimham Rocks.
The first half of the course provided a number of cleans for many riders but the rocks got much more tricky as riders headed down the track to the bottom half of the course.
For the first time since round One Jack Challoner was back contesting the series and he made an immediate impact with a stunning first lap which placed him second only two marks adrift of James Dabill.
The other likely front runners did not fare so well on the initial circuit with Shaun Morris, Michael Brown and Alexz Wigg all just off the leaders pace. Alexz put in a tremendous effort on his second lap as did Sherco’s Mighty Atom, but Dabill still had his nose in front. Michael continued to press but Dabill’s lead was unassailable and he would continue his fine unbeaten run in the 2010 series. Alexz Wigg dropped away a touch on his last lap and he would have to settle for fourth overall on the day as Jack Challoner completed the final podium place.
In the Experts B group Jack Sheppard had one of those special days where everything went right and he would take the Class with a stunning performance. Long distance traveller Gary Macdonald would take second and he still retains his championship top place with just two rounds remaining. Jack Spencer took third and Ricky Wiggins fourth, his best result of the season.
Experts B has been dominated in the main by Darren Brice this year but he had to settle for the runner up berth this time as Guy Kendrew took top place. Kendrew has been very consistent all year so a win was well deserved.
