World Championship Motocross

The event being organised solely by the Langrish Motorcycle Racing Club with a little help from their friends will be the culmination of many years work by the small organising team that make up the club and what a feast of entertainment have they got lined up.

The Worlds best Sidecar cross teams and Quad riders at one event and the possibility of a home win as both classes have riders capable of winning races or indeed taking the overall win on the day. In the Quad class there is the reigning Euro champion Paul Holmes and after one round he’s in 4th place, Stuart Brown and Luke Peters are the reigning British sidecar cross Champions and 2009 GP winners, Paul Winrow the British Quad Champion, the Millard Brothers – Dan and Joe are just outside the Worlds top 10 in 11th place, Jason Macbeth holds 5th in the Quad championship after one round, Richard Jenkins and Pete Girling are 16th in the World and former quad champion John Mitchell isn't badly placed either .

Who would bet on any of them being on the rostrum come Sunday evening.

Heading the opposition are the 2009 defending World Sidecar cross champions, Joris Hendrickx / Kaspars Liepins from Belgium & Latvia respectively. Incredibly in winning the 09 championship they only won two races which they are determined to improve upon in 2010.

Keen to win the title back will be seven times champion Daniel Willemsen from Holland. For this season Daniel has teamed up with 19 year old Ukrainian passenger Roman Vasyliaka. As part of his deal with Roman Daniel will be competing on a Ukrainian license. Winter training went well until Roman got injured and will be out for at least six weeks with a damaged wrist. Daniel will be riding with stand in passenger, Gertie Eggink in Oldebroek and possibly in the second round at Langrish. To date Willemsen has ridden in one Dutch and one Belgian championship round with Eggink and has won all three races he has finished. In fact he has only been headed for two laps so far

The Quad opposition from overseas include Romain Couprie the first round winner, Jan Vlaeymans and an old friend from the British championships Joe Maessen.

The first race is at 12.30pm on Sunday following a full day of qualifications on Saturday including two sidecar qualifying races.
