Scottish Motocross Championship Kicks off this Weekend

All roads lead to Leuchars, near St Andrews for the first round of the Scottish Motocross Championships on the weekend of 2nd and 3rd of March. With riders from all over Britain converging on the fantastic track the youth races take place on Saturday, all the adult classes are on Sunday.

Current Safe Access Scottish MX1 champion, Ross Rutherford, will be out giving it his all as usual. Second last year, Ryan McLean is returning from injury and will be fighting tooth and nail with last year’s front runners Gavin Robertson and Scott Findlay. More champions will be out in the MX2/250cc two-stroke class. John Adamson, second in the championship last year will be racing a his AAA/Bikesport KTM four-stroke against 2011 youth champion, Ryan Livingstone, on his 250cc two-stroke Suzuki, and a host of other stars.

It will be interesting to see how the two-stroke bikes go against the four-strokes. Also on Sunday will be the Veterans class. Runaway victor last year, Darren Scott, may not have it all his own way this year with a few very fast riders now over 40 moving into the class to make the racing even more exciting.

The track is situated at Comerton Farm off Earlshall Rd. Leuchars, KY16 0DP and racing starts at 11. Entry for under 14’s is free and adult admission is only £8.
