The annual Northampton Clubs Wild & Wooley Scramble takes place on Boxing day December 26th at Arm Farm Blisworth on the A43 between Blisworth and Milton Malsor.
This will be the 85th running of the event and by a long way the longest running motorcycle scramble in the World. The conditions are traditionaly horrendous and follows exactly the same format as in 1932 where 50 riders start and the race lasts for one hour where those still standing (riding) will realise there efforts through the results issued. No fewer than four stream crossings have to be negotiated and riders devise snorkels and breathing apparatus for the bikes engine to cross the deepest sections.
When the race starts Ryan Grifiths will be looking for his tenth win but will face stiff opposition from Richard Main and James Berrill
Practice starts at 10.00am with the race starting at 11.00am. Spectators are asked to park responsibly and not on the roads, all proceeds go to local charities.
See the clubs web site for Andy Tindles action photos of the Wild & Wooley without getting your toes wet.
