Great Britain’s three Grand Prix riders will all be competing in the Attis Insurance Sports Division British Final at Belle Vue on Saturday June 8 (7.30pm).
Defending double champion Dan Bewley, treble winner Tai Woffinden and 2018 gold medallist Robert Lambert all clash in the prestigious national championship for the first time, with tickets to go on sale this Tuesday at 9am.
It’s another major boost for the event having already secured a primetime Saturday date at the National Speedway Stadium, as it will now feature the strongest line-up in years with the British Championship at stake as well as the Wild Card position for the British GP at Cardiff.
And British Speedway is also delighted to welcome Attis Insurance Sports Division on board as the new title sponsors of this Major Event.
All three Grand Prix riders go into the meeting as defending champions, with Woffinden and Lambert having been victorious in their last appearances.
Woffinden dominated the British Final in the mid-2010s, and he will now be competing for the first time since completing a hat-trick of titles at Wolverhampton in 2015.
Lambert went close the following year before finally getting his hands on the silverware at Belle Vue in 2018, but he then missed out on defending the title due to injury.
And after twice finishing as runner-up, Bewley added his name to the winners’ list in Manchester in 2022, before repeating the feat on his home circuit last August.
Bewley and Woffinden already race in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership this season and the three Grand Prix riders have been offered, and have accepted, their places in the Attis Insurance Sports Division British Final, with the remaining 13 qualifiers to be confirmed over the coming days.
The further incentive for the non-GP stars is that the highest-placed rider in the meeting other than the GP regulars will receive the Wild Card at the Principality Stadium.
Premiership CEO Phil Morris said: “We’re delighted to have the three GP boys involved, and this along with the Saturday date is another step to bringing this meeting back to the level which many of us will remember.
“With another five previous winners expected to be in the line-up, this is going to be the strongest British Final in at least a decade.
“There will be lots to go for including the Wild Card for Cardiff, and it’s only a month or so before the Speedway of Nations which also takes place at Belle Vue, so it’s also a chance for riders to lay down a marker there.
“I’d like to place on record our thanks to Eurosport and Warner Brothers Discovery for their willingness to accommodate us in their schedule on the Saturday evening, and I really feel this is an event that everyone will be delighted to get behind.”
